while out shopping this morning for more bambino stuff, why do they need so much!...smile my nephew Louis, who we thought was completely blind, reacted to colour, my brother was kidding us on about buying him a bright orange T- shirt, when Louis surprised the hell out of us by reaching for it..after losing his sight at 4 months old, he showed no sign of having any colour appreciation, so needless to say we were gobsmacked!..we are now waiting for an appointment with a specialist at the eye hospital for confirmation on the extent of Louis's sight.

How come and you call it a miracle when you obviously do not believe in God! At 4 months old, when the accident happened, a child has no clear perception of color and if it does it doesn't have the verbal capacity to identify it. Now that he is older and has better comprehension of language his ability to also recognize and perceive what he sees (senses with his eyes) has become more refined. If you have no clue of what I am talking about check Erickson's stages of child development. And I thought you said you graduated with an honors degree in psychology! Gee, could that have been another lie? hmmm?

good luck goblin ... it is possible to establish whether a child can/cannot see at a fairly early age. I had to take my son to the hospital when he was just 6 days old to have his eyes tested. it was, in my view, a fairly pointless experience, but the professionals are able to tell whether the child is able to descern anything visually at all.

cheers..As Louis was born with a form of RP he was tested quite early on to establish the extent of the retinal damage..fortunately he was quite lucky, testing may seem a waste of time, but the result gives you a point of reference to work from, without it your floundering...anyway he's still exploring so we are indulging that..smile.

Miracle doesn't mean God. A miracle can come from any number of things. The early peoples thought the sunrise was a miracle. A miracle is anything you cannot understand or explain. You can believe your "miracles" come from anywhere you like. True miracles come from Christ no matter what you choose to believe, and the rest aren't really miracles in the first place.

you're right a miracle is something which we cannot understand. I would not necessarily say that only true miracles come from Christ because that is not the belief that everyone shares.

Love4all and Caitlin thankyou Louis is doing fine he is definately showing signs of having some colour appreciation ..he has a very noisy dragon with tactile squares which make amusing noises when pressed....

..My brother was trying to teach Louis to look at these instead of just feeling them,as he's quite advanced for 23months,Louis seemed to be interested in the brightest colours I.E yellow, orange, pink ect..but he struggled with the blue and red which are slightly darker...so we don't know what to make of this development, as far as we can tell Louis is able to see vivid colours and as his Dad is an artist, he's well placed to introduce him to a few.....
